Over the past several months, we have observed a growing number of reports and independent test results indicating serious quality issues with BAC Water originating from China.
According to multiple independent analyses, many products currently sold on the market contain little to no actual Benzyl Alcohol despite being labeled as bacteriostatic water. In the best-case scenario, these products are simply sterile water without bacteriostatic protection.
The situation appears to be connected to increasing regulatory pressure surrounding Benzyl Alcohol production and distribution in China. As regulations continue to tighten, many gray-market peptide vendors and semi-manufacturers have reportedly lost stable access to pharmaceutical-grade Benzyl Alcohol.
Unfortunately, instead of discontinuing production, some suppliers appear to have replaced true BAC Water with plain sterile water while continuing to market it as bacteriostatic.
Even more concerning, in some cases suppliers reportedly attempt to create antimicrobial effects using alternative preservatives and parabens that may not be intended or desirable for research applications and long-term exposure.
At Peptides From China, our approach has always been fundamentally different.
We work exclusively with legal manufacturers that produce BAC Water in-house under controlled production standards rather than sourcing from uncontrolled gray-market fillers.
Because of this, we are able to maintain:
proper Benzyl Alcohol concentration,
controlled pH levels,
sterility standards,
heavy metal compliance,
production traceability,
batch-level quality verification.
At the same time, we recently received comments from a representative of one of our manufacturing partners confirming that the company is seriously considering discontinuing BAC Water production entirely.
According to the manufacturer, BAC Water is considered a complementary low-margin product that generates little direct profit while becoming increasingly difficult to produce due to mounting regulatory pressure and compliance requirements.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that customers who do not have access to trusted domestic BAC Water brands (such as Hospira in the United States) consider maintaining a reasonable reserve supply.
For most research purposes, even 2–3 boxes of 10ml BAC Water are typically sufficient for approximately one year of use.
